Cattle thief escapes in handcuffs
Even as searches are continuing on Wakenaam for a known cattle thief, a Police Sergeant who is stationed at the San Souci Police Station, in Wakenaam is being questioned over what went wrong.
The Sergeant was escorting a prisoner to the Wakenaam Magistrate’s Court when he escaped into some bushes on the Island. This escape occurred on Monday.
According to reports, the Zeelugt, West Coast Demerara known cattle thief was being investigated for the theft of cattle and was placed before the court subsequently after the charge was imposed on him.
At the time of the escape the prisoner was in handcuffs. He made a dash into some bushes on the Essequibo Island.
