Preparations for CBC U16 Championships bouncing ahead -LOC

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) U16 Championships is continuing to push its preparation ahead for Guyana to host what will certainly be a memorable occasion,

This is according to Chairman of the LOC, Alex Graham of Tagman Media Inc., who along with some members of the Committee including Security Coordinator, George Vyphuis, met with the representatives from the various security agencies.
Those agencies included the Guyana Police Force, Guyana Prison Service and Private Security, which will be providing security at the venues and for the 10 male teams and seven female teams from the Caribbean which will be in Guyana for the Championships.
“Our aim is to leave a lasting impression and a blueprint of how events should be held here at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall; nothing like this has ever been done before,” Graham noted, before a walkabout the main playing facility yesterday afternoon.
The idea is to have a safe venue with clear information on ticketing, parking, entrance and exit protocols that befit an international event. “This is an event for the entire family and a competition that will be televised from Guyana to various countries across the Caribbean and further afield,” an official release later said.
“The LOC is working tirelessly with local and international partners to ensure that all the necessities are in place to make this event not only a success but one to be heralded as a jewel in Guyana’s crown,” the release continued.
“We recognise that the youths are the future and their experiences guide their development, this we believe is a great opportunity to craft a memorable experience for participants and spectators alike,” it added.
According to the press release, every game day will be filled not just with fantastic basketball, but spectators can look forward to prize winning competitions, giveaways and various forms of entertainment.
“The LOC wants everyone to be apart of this momentous occasion and this is being reflected in our approach,” the document further noted. Guyana will host a total of 17 teams from the CBC region for the first time in 17 years. Guyana last held the CBC Championships in 1999 and will be aiming to put on a show in its Jubilee year of Independence.
