Police yesterday continued to question a man that they suspect drove three bandits away from a South Ruimveldt mechanic shop on Sunday, after one of them had shot a 15-year-old boy.
‘A’ Division Commander Clifton Hicken said that detectives are also studying fresh CCTV footage of the robbery. Some of the footage was obtained from a premises that is in proximity to the building where the robbery occurred.
Commander Hicken said that some of the recordings that they viewed showed a car that is similar to one that police have impounded.
Meanwhile, police have also taken a statement from 15-year-old, Jahmaul Lewis, who underwent surgery shortly after being shot above the left eye.
According to reports, the teen and other workers were in the mechanic shop, when three men entered. One of the men, who had a handgun, relieved an employee of an undisclosed sum of cash and a cell phone.
Kaieteur News understands that one of the bandits discharged a round after an individual in the shop attempted to resist. The bullet struck Lewis, who was later admitted to the Georgetown Hospital.
The robbers arrived on foot but escaped in a car.
