The trial for rape against a Corentyne man has been aborted after reports of some irregularities.
The trial of Mohamed Haifizullah Khan before Justice Brassington Reynolds and a mixed jury in the Berbice High Court for the offence of rape committed on a child under the age of 16 came to an abrupt halt on Thursday.
The man is accused of committing the act on the then 13 year old on September 29, 2014 on the Upper Corentyne.
The matter was held in camera and not much information was made available. However it was learnt that one of the Jurors was seen entering the same car with the accused after court on Tuesday.
That occurrence was reported to the Judge on Wednesday who subsequently held an inquiry and it was subsequently decided to abort the trial on Thursday.
The matter was being prosecuted by Attorney-at-Law Stacey Goodings.
