Boy, 9, allegedly sodomised by three schoolmates

The police are investigating the alleged sodomising of a nine-year-old boy by three boys at a school on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD) two Thursdays ago.

Ranks at the Grove Police Station confirmed that detectives are investigating the incident.
According to information, the suspects who are aged nine and 10, and the victim, attend the same school.
There are reports that last Thursday, the three suspects took their victim to an isolated area in the school compound and carried out the act.
Kaieteur News was told that the suspects might have taken advantage of the nine-year-old boy because he has a speech impediment.
“You have to really pay attention to understand what he is saying,” a woman who is familiar with the victim and the incident said.
The victim allegedly told the police that when his molesters took him to the area, they demanded that he take off his pants.
This newspaper was told that the victim gave a detailed description of what transpired on that day. There are reports that the incident was witnessed by an adult.
“The man said that he saw the three boys and the victim, but at first, he didn’t know what was really going on because they were far away, but when he realized what was happening, he run to them. One boy ran away but he catch two of them and we call the police,” the woman revealed.
The headmistress at the school and teachers refused to comment on the matter.
It is unclear if the Ministry of Education is aware of the incident.
A police investigation is ongoing.
