Dead is 21-year-old Inshain Jameer, also known as Sugar, a farmer of Tempie, West Coast Berbice.
Dead: Inshain Jameer
According to reports, Jameer left home on Saturday afternoon to purchase tractor parts in Bush Lot, and to visit his uncle, Mohan Persaud, known as Patrick, who cultivates a plot of land at Radboro, just east of Fort Wellington. Patrick also has a roadside fruit stand, there.
The two men were locked in conversation on the southern side of the road near to Patrick’s stall where he would sell watermelon, papaya and banana from his nearby farm. Just around 18:30 hours, Patrick reportedly observed a car travelling in a westerly direction at a fast rate, as well as in an erratic manner. Even though Patrick tried to alert his nephew, there was not enough time for him to react since the youth was straddling his motorcycle.
Jameer took the full impact of the out-of-control car which eventually flipped over before coming to a halt.
Jameer was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital, and later transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital. He died later that night.
The driver of the car, who is said to be the Regional Engineer, Region Five, was admitted to the Fort Wellington Hospital.
The Regional Chairman and the Region Five Executive Officer also visited and offered words of encouragement to the bereaved relatives.
Inshain is survived by his father, Inshain Senior; mother, Patricia; and sister, Farida. Funeral arrangements are set for Wednesday.
