Cops closing in on businessman’s kilers
Police are reportedly closing in on the killers of security guard/ businessman Gowchand Budhu, who was shot dead last Saturday at his Topoo, Corentyne home.

His wife Parbattie Budhu, 54, was badly beaten and treated at the Anamayah Memorial Hospital before being sent home.
After the incident, investigators arrested one man from the area and kept him in custody. However, after intense investigation, he was released on station bail.
Meanwhile, police are following a number of leads and appear confident that they are making inroads in the investigation. Arrests are expected soon.
A post mortem examination by Pathologist Dr. Vivikanand Brijmohan at the Port Mourant Hospital concluded that Budhu died from shock and haemorrhage due to gunshot injuries.

The victim’s wife has said she had taken a bath and was about to enter the lower flat when two masked and armed bandits confronted her.

She said one of the intruders gun-butted and punched her, while ordering her to be quiet.
Gowchand, who had retired to bed, reportedly heard the commotion and his wife’s cries and hurried downstairs.
The husband, a licensed firearm holder, reportedly raced back upstairs and grabbed his 12 gauge shot gun. He was reportedly heading back to the lower flat when he was shot a number of times by one of the bandits who had mounted the inner stairs.
