Policeman struck down while directing traffic
A policeman was struck down yesterday afternoon while directing traffic at Eccles, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Kelvin LaFleur, who is stationed at the Providence Police Station, is hospitalized at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) nursing injuries.
According to information received, the rank was directing traffic at Eccles when he stepped back to allow a vehicle to pass in front of him. That was when a pick-up came out of nowhere and hit him from behind.
The driver of the vehicle is in police custody.
