Just days after being sworn into office the Mayor and Councillors of the Town of New Amsterdam have begun the task of “Restoring the Pride of New Amsterdam through Restoration and Transformation”.

Mayor Kirt Wynter and Deputy Mayor Winifred Haywood, and Councillors have been out during the week familiarizing themselves with some of the tasks ahead.
On Sunday they were out supervising clean up exercises and meeting with residents.
A drain was heavily silted up. “Upon measuring, we found the width of the concrete drain which lies beneath the neglect, to be three feet. We then used a measuring rod to figure out the bottom of the drain, we measured the silt on the rod after it struck bottom – 5 feet of silt and one foot of water.”
A collective effort was needed, even to start the tractor owned by the Town Council.
