St. Stanislaus defeated host Malteenoes Sports Club by 27 runs to win the semi final of the Georgetown Cricket Association/Guyana Diabetics Association/PAHO/WHO/Smalta U17 T20 tournament yesterday.
Kennard Moonsammy and Umesh Boodram added 41 for the opening stand after St. Stanislaus were asked to bat in favourable sunshine before off-spinner Chad Shivrattan bowled Boodram for 23 (2×4). Moonsammy, who batted with composure, then shared in a second wicket partnership of 23 with Ezekiel Caines. However, pacer Andrew Andrews removed them both to restrict the scoring. Moonsammy hit one four in scoring 32, while Caines struck two fours and one six in 23.
MSC then picked up wickets at regular intervals as St. Stanislaus managed114-7; Andrews snared 4-15 from four overs, while Shivrattan had 3-7 off three.
Andrews was bowled by Daniel Persaud (1-15) for five as MSC lost their first wicket at 20. They then lost two more wickets without addition to the score to severely weaken the chase – Sase Norville was run out without scoring and Tuen Hicks went for 10. MSC continued to lose wickets regularly with only Jeremiah Scott (12) and Kistan McAllister (15*) managing double figures as the finished on 87-8. Boodram claimed 3-12 and Joshua Bankay 2-14.
