Dear Editor,
What an interesting political “Providential” situation in the year of our “Historic Golden Jubilee of Independence”, with the attendance of our fine ‘daughter of the soil’ actress, C.C. H Pounder, attending the celebrations in New York.
Since my husband spent much of his childhood in the Providence district, has fond memories of the area, and his father was head of the primary school there during and after the war, we discuss the present ‘situation’ daily.
We have concluded that Guyana can now be regarded as famous for yet another wrong reason – we have our own ‘Providencegate’ or, shortened, ‘Provigate’ – we prefer the shortened form. “The best laid plans of mice and men…”. One wonders what the former US President Carter now think? Geralda Dennison
