The Guyana Mixed Martial Arts Karate Association and Founder and President Master Lloyd Ramnarine hosted its 2nd Annual Karate Championship on Sunday, 28th February, 2016 at the National Gymnasium.

Nine (9) clubs participated in the event. The clubs were the Black Cobra Karate Club from West Minister, Iron Fist Karate Club in Diamond Housing Scheme, National Martial Arts Karate Association, Jaguar Martial Arts Academy, Swami School Martial Arts Academy, Best of the Best Martial Arts Academy, Stanleytown Shotokan Karate Club, Harpy Eagle Martial Arts Academy, and Black Hawks Martial Arts Academy.
The Guyana Mixed Martial Arts, which is made up of two branches, placed first in the championship. Stanleytown Shotokan finished second and Best of the Best third.
From Black Cobra Karate Club, Alliyah Ramnarine in 13-15 group placed 1st in traditional kata, 1st in weapon kata and 1st in freestyle kata, Zafar Ramnarine in 10-12 got 1st in freestyle kata, 1st in weapon kata and 2nd in traditional kata, Jaffar Ramnarine in 7-9 got 3rd in traditional kata, 2nd in weapon kata and 1st in freestyle, Daniel Persaud in 7-9 got 2nd in traditional and 2nd in kumite, Brandon deolall in 7-9 got 2nd in traditional, 3rd in kumite, Akash Prashad in 10-12 was 2nd in freestyle kata and 2nd in the kumite.
Tyrese Felix in 10-12 was 3rd in the traditional kata, Shiloh Sydney in 10-12, 1st in kumite, 1st in traditional kata and 2nd for weapon kata, Philip Jaikissoon in 13-15 placed 1st in kumite , 2nd in freestyle, 3rd traditional and 3rd in weapon kata, Akesha Wills in 16-19 got 1st in traditional, Christopher Mahadeo in 13-15 got 2nd in kumite, 3rd in freestyle kata, 3rd in traditional form and 2nd in weapon kata. Tafare Reece in 10-12 was 1st in freestyle kata, 2nd in kumite and 2nd in traditional kata, Arif chow in 10-12 got 3rd in traditional kata, 3rd in weapon kata, 3rd in kumite and 2nd in freestyle.
Iron Fist Karate Club from Diamond Housing Scheme had Diego Adams in 10-12 age group finishing 3rd in kumite, 2nd in traditional kata, Tarish Sookhoo in 10-12 got 1st in traditional form, 2nd in freestyle form and 2nd in weapon kata, Tyrese Harris in 7-9 got 3rd in kumite, Elijah Gomes in 7-9 got 1st in traditional kata and 1st in the kumite. Mark Sookdeo in 7-9 got 3rd in the kumite, Mahendra Gorakh in 6 and under was 2nd in kumite and 2nd in traditional kata and Mahendra Singh was 3rd in traditional kata.
