Team Benchop cites City Hall for victimization
Dear Editor,
Team Benschop is disappointed with the sloth in which the Town Clerk’s office has been moving to approve our request to stage a meeting at the Stabroek Market Square ahead of Local Government Election. Letters of request were sent to both the Commander of ‘A’ Division of the Guyana Police Force, Clifton Hicken and the Town Clerk Royston King. Approval has been granted by the GPF but to date no approval has been issued by from City Hall. Team Benschop would like to thank the GPF for the swift action in this regard.
The meeting has been scheduled for Friday March 5, 2016 from 18:00-21:00hrs.Numerous calls have been made to the relevant authorities at City Hall without success or a clear indication from anyone there as to the reason for the delay. Team Benschop is concerned that this may be a deliberate attempt to stymie our campaign process and would like to call on the relevant authorities to grant the go ahead as soon as possible in the spirit of democracy.
