Club condemn non-selection of Foo in national 50-overs team
The Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) has extended congratulations to club members Assad Fudadin and Royston Crandon on their selection to the Guyana Regional 50-overs team.
In a press release, the club expressed delight at their selection while wishing them and the Guyana team the best in their quest for championship honours.
It noted that Crandon’s selection has a special feeling for all the entity as he continues to dedicate himself to the game despite severe challenges and disappointments. “We are confident that like in the 2015 tournament, he would be an asset to the team.”
Fudadin’s selection is just reward for a discipline as he is an extremely hardworking player and completes a full circle of selection to the four-days, 50-overs and Guyana Amazon Warriors T20 teams.
We would like to remind the players of the club’s formula of success – ‘Sheer hard work, discipline, faith in the God we serve, honesty and a steel determination to succeed against all odds’.
“As we collectively celebrate of being granted a Medal of Service Award by the Government of Guyana, the RHTY&SC is confident that they would fulfill their responsibilities as Ambassadors of Guyana’s leading youth and sports organization.”
The RHTY&SC has also voiced its disappointment at the non-selection of Jonathan Foo of the Albion Cricket Club to the said team.
The club notes: “Foo was without doubt, one of the leading performers in the recent GCB 50-overs tournament and his performance is the watchword for selection. The young Albion player has every right to be disappointed. Our club and the Albion club have a long standing rivalry but as every cricket fan would be aware, the RHTY&SC has always put the game of cricket first and Jonathan Foo deserves to be selected – full stop.
We would also like to condemn the treatment of our own Clinton Pestano and Eon Hooper who both performed well throughout the tournament. Both of them were belatedly called for the second trial match after the club was informed less than 24hrs before the game by an individual who has no proper record as a cricket administrator.
Hooper and Pestano deserves to have been in the training squad and both trial matches on their performances and not on the whims of a few.”
