Magistrates’ Courts to answer a charge of threatening language. The court was told that the man had threatened to chop his pregnant neighbour.
Anil Cumberbatch, 45, of Lot 190 Meadow Brook Gardens, pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on October 6, at Silverbali Street, Meadow Brook, he made use of threatening language to Fiona Forde.
He was released on $10,000 bail and will make a next court appearance on January 7.
Police Corporal Adunni Inniss presented the case for the prosecution.
Forde told the court that on the day in question, at around 23:00hrs, she was watching television when the defendant started to hurl disrespectful remarks towards her. She stated that at the time the man was outside the house, armed with a cutlass.
According to the woman, Cumberbatch continued his tirade and she reported the matter to the station.
Cumberbatch had no attorney and declined to give a response to the complainant’s version of the story.
At the next court hearing, Forde’s landlord will testify in the matter.
