Dear Editor,
I just read a letter in your newspaper titled “ Commissioner Seelall Update The Diaspora” which took place as stated in Miami. I have been reading in this newspaper almost on a daily basis complaints by decent citizens against personnel from the GPF, about police brutality, corruption,
harassment, intimidation, bullying, criminal offenses committed by these personnel etc.
Crimes has been on an upsurge since Seelall took office and truthfully he has no clue in addressing this scourge which affects us Guyanese, daily. To my fellow Guyanese living in Miami, how would you like to lay in bed late at night when the dogs begin barking, not knowing if the criminals are coming to your house, and you can’t go back to sleep due to fear.
Decent citizens will continue to live in fear of the criminal elements that are running rampant without fear or consequences, and also a fear of the police, that even when you file a complaint against a constable, standby for repercussions from that constable or his peers. Seelall is waiting for his ship
to come to port bearing his retirement check, and if Hell breaks loose, he will not rock that boat. T. Jagmohan
