Goodwill boy of Jagdeo upset field to take feature event
It was a good day for Goodwill Boy of the Jagdeo Stable as it created a major upset to take the feature event for animals classified E and Lower and four year old West Indies bred horses.
Goodwill Boy of the Jagdeo stable with Paul Delph on the rails, edged out Spit Fire of the Shariff stable with Colin Ross in the feature E and 4 year old event.
Ridden by Paul Delph and trained by Tribuwan Jagdeo the animal came out of the pack with a strong run down the homestretch to edge past favourite Spit Fire of the Shariff Stable by a neck to take the Banks DIH Trophy and $600,000 top money. Unsettled held on for third with Red and Lovely fourth.
Other winners on the day saw Keep on Swinging of the Jumbo Jet Stable with Ramnauth finishing strongly to win the three year old West Indies and Guyana bred event ahead of Settling Star.
Wichie Poo of the Shariff stable with Colin Ross aboard continued its winning ways by taking the two year old Guyana and West Indies bred event from stable mate Firing Line.
Rosetta of the Jumbo Jet stable with Paul Delph on the mount led stable mate Release the Beast home in the GI and lower race.
The H1 and lower event was won by Sent From Above of The Lenny Singh stable with Delph in the saddle ahead of Fresh Again.
The J and lower race was won by Party Time, while De Gump was in winner’s row in the K class event.
The champion Jockey was Paul Delph with Nazrudeen Mohammed ‘Junior’ the champion trainer, while the Jumbo Jet stable was named the champion stable on show. (Samuel Whyte)
