After slipping the police for close to two months, one of the masterminds in the staged Crabwood Creek robbery has been nabbed and remanded to jail.
The man, Daniel Mc Lennon called “Dutty” 20 of 163 Second Street Rose Hall Town, who has been described as a career criminal was wanted by the police for a number of crimes.
The man was said to be the mastermind in the staged robbery committed on September 6, 2015 at the Crabwood Creek home of Tejkumarie Jettoo.
Information revealed that Mc Clennon was the man contacted by Krishendat Jettoo to conduct the staged robbery at his home. Mc Lennon subsequently contacted his gang members to carry out the dastardly act. After the scheme was exposed, Mc Clennon began slipping the police who kept up the hunt as he traversed the country.
He was nabbed by police in an early morning raid at his home after he had slipped back into the community.
Mc Lennon is accused of robbing Tejkumarie Jettoo, of Lot 26 Grant, 2757, Crabwood Creek of a quantity of gold jewellery valued at $790,000; a quantity of diamond jewelery valued at $590,000, US$19,000, and $1 Million in local currency, on September 6, 2015, while in company with others.
It was alleged that five armed men invaded the home of Krishendatt Jettoo and his wife through a window in the lower flat of their home, which was deliberately left open by the male homeowner.
It was also reported that the men tied up the Jettoos while holding them at gunpoint.
Both victims were beaten by Mc Lennon and his gang who escaped with the cash and jewelry.
The police, conducting vigorous investigation received certain information and arrested the husband along with the two accomplices two days after the alleged robbery.
The police discovered that Jettoo hired the bandits to beat him and his wife in an effort to keep his wife from leaving the already broken marriage.
The others remanded earlier were the woman’s husband Krishendatt 42, Matthew Ganga Persaud, aka Abel, 24, and Satram Kushley, 21, a Cane Harvester.
Mc Clennon will have to return to court on the 12th November.
