The highly anticipated Parsun Inter-county softball cricket championship, which is billed for October 24, has received corporate support from two companies, namely Innovative Mining and Tony’s Auto Spares.

Suresh Singh (right) of Tony’s Auto Spares presents his company’s contribution to Parmanand Persaud.
This was announced by the organisers on Wednesday, with Parmanand Persaud being on hand at both locations to accept the entities’ donation.
Persaud said the organising body is extremely appreciative of the support put forward by the businesses, noting that Innovative Mining of Garnett Street, Campbellville, has agreed to become the team and title sponsor of Essequibo A. Tony’s Auto Spares is onboard as a partner in the initiative.
The tournament will involve eight teams- two from each of the three counties (Demerara, Berbice and Essequibo) and one each from Linden and Bartica.
The winner will receive $500,000 and a trophy, compliments of the Trophy Stall of Bourda Market. The runner-up will take home a trophy and $300,000 and the losing semi-finalists $100,000 each.
The other participating teams will receive $25,000. The teams will play each other twice with
the top four going through to the semi-finals.
The last day of action will be October 25, and patrons are asked to come out in their numbers, as entry to the venue is free and there would be lots of giveaways.
