A fine half century by Joshua Jones and a useful all-round performance by David Williams handed host New Opportunity Corps (NOC) an 83-run victory over North Essequibo in a 20-over U17 match played recently on the Essequibo Coast.
Jones a national U17 player slammed 54, while Williams struck 40 as NOC posted 153-4, batting first. North were bowled out for 70 in reply. Bomesh Ramdin made 27 as Williams returned to take 3-15.
In another game played at the said venue, Zorg Sports Club registered a three-wicket win over NOC. The home team took first strike and managed 98-6 off their allotted 15 overs. Akini Adams scored 28 and Shaquille Cummings 21. David Stoll and Silvan Williams picked up two wickets apiece. Zorg responded with 99-7 in 14.3 overs. R. Nandkishore cracked 29; Cummings claimed 3-11.
