A thirty eight year-old father of two is now a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after a large Mora tree crushed his right foot.
Philbert Edwards, a farmer of Princeville Mahdia, Region 8 explained that last Wednesday afternoon, he went into the backdam to do some farming. He said that he was trying to rid the farming area of some large trees.
He began cutting one of the large trees with a chainsaw when the tree unexpectedly came crashing down on his right foot.
Luckily, he was not alone in the farm and was rescued by another man, who removed the tree and rushed him to a nearby health centre.
While at the health centre the leg was sutured. Later on in the evening Edwards was transported to Georgetown for further medical attention at the GPHC.
The injured man pointed out that this was the first time something like this had happened to him. He has since commended the doctors and nurses at the hospital for the exemplary services they have been providing.
Edwards told Kaieteur News that the foot is badly damaged and will take some time to heal.
