Workers welcome working class budget
DEAR EDITOR,
I believe that the $221B budget presented by the coalition government – A Partnership for National Unity + Alliance for Change (APNU+AFC) – is a working class budget. It was themed: “A Fresh Approach to the Good Life in a Green Economy”.
Trade union rights, human rights, and political democracy are all parts of the democratic way of life in general; all three are of crucial importance to the workers in any society if they are to maintain their human dignity as free men and women, and if they are to obtain a fair share of the wealth. This is because inclusionary democracy offers the only political environment in which trade unions can flourish.
