Banks DIH Limited supports Ninth annual $25M Guyana Cup

As race day draws closer the excitement continues to build for the $25M ninth annual Guyana Cup 2015 horse race meet.
Organized by the Jumbo Jet Business Enterprise and friends, the mega horserace meet is set for Sunday 16th August at the Port Mourant Turf Club, Corentyne Berbice.
The event which is by far the biggest sporting activity for the August holidays and is being staged with the support of the Government of Guyana and the blessing of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority (GHRA).
With over 100 horses expected to participate and Guyana pouring in support, thousands of patrons are expected to flock the venue for what is expect to be an exciting day of racing.
Beverage giant Banks DIH Limited and telecommunication power house Digicel play major parts in the excitement.
Yesterday, Banks DIH Limited through its outdoor Events Manager Mr. Gavin Jodhan made good on the corporate commitments by presenting a cheque for a hefty sum to organizer Nazrudeen “Jumbo Jet” Mohammed junior. The handing over was done at the Corporate entity’s Thirst Park location.
Mr. Jodhan expressed his company delight in partnering with the organizer of the prestigious Guyana Cup activity. He stated that Banks DIH is always willing to partner with others in giving back to the community. The Beverage giants have been on board with the Guyana Cup since its inception and has been pleased how thing has been conducted so far.
Mr. Mohammed thanked Banks DIH and Mr Jodhan for sticking with the Guyana Cup. He assured that the sponsorship will go a long way in helping with the success of the activity.
The feature event is for A class horses for a whopping first prize of $3M and the Guyana Cup Trophy from a total package of $6M over 1800M.
So far the likes of Guyana A class champion Score’s Even, defending Guyana Cup Champion CP Got Even, Spit Fire, Jack in My Style, Princess She Not, Diplomatic Cat and Curfew Tower and Treacle are expected to head up the track.
The other events on the days programme are the Co-feature 1600M event for 3 yrs old horses bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies for a winning take of $2M and trophy.
There are Two races for two year old horses one for West Indies Bred animals for a winning take of $1.2M and trophy, while the second is for Guyana bred horses for a winners money of $400,000. The E class and lower event for a take home of $1M and trophy, the race for four year old West Indies bred animals for a winning take of $900,000 and trophy, the event for horses classified F3 has a first prize of $800,000 and trophy, and in the G3 and lower race the winner will run away with $600,000 and trophy.
The ‘I’ and lower race has $350,000 and trophy winning tag, while the event for unclassified animals has a take home of $150,000 and trophy.
The top Jockey along with the runner up, the top stable and champion trainer will all be presented with trophies and other incentives compliments of the organizers.
The event will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority. Race time is 12:00 hrs.
