DEAR EDITOR,
This is the first time I am writing and I am hoping that my concern will be heard and read by fellow Guyanese.
I am a Christian since 1985 when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord of my life. Before knowing Jesus I was a fool, involving myself in fornication, adultery, theft and drugs. Since I became a child of God, I now regard, with great interest and love, the word of God who is now my Heavenly Father.
I read carefully the address Mr. Bryan Hunt gave on his country’s Independence Day held on Thursday July 2, 2015 at the Marriott Hotel.
America has always been at the forefront of almost everything, including Evangelism and preaching the word to all nations worldwide. In fact, I first heard the gospel by American teachers at Parishara Village where I was born.
Mr. Hunt’s democratic right allows him to speak whatever he wishes, but not everything is accepted. For example, his recent invitation on his country’s behalf for Guyana to join the legalising of gay marriages. I think that same-sex marriage is an act that all religions condemn. Why? Because their focus is centred on the eternal and just God.
America has changed the truth of God into a lie and more than that they are also inviting others to join them in their folly. Romans 1:26-28 clearly speaks about such.
When Almighty God created humans, he created man and woman. Man has proven to have changed the genital but will never change the sex.
I personally thank God that Guyana has a God-fearing president and in my opinion will never approve such a foolish act and say it is human rights.
I urge all God-fearing and decent people in Guyana to denounce and take a firm stance against such an act that brings curse and death to a nation. Perry Da Silva
