DEAR EDITOR,
This is to express tremendous gratitude to an unsung hero in the fight for Guyana and Guyanese…Mr. Frederick Kissoon.
My brother Junior/Mahesh Sahadeo, used to buy the newspapers just so that he could read Freddie’s columns and letters.
We are amazed at his fearlessness.
I have spoken to many who would criticize him, yet none of his critics would do what he has been doing….endangering his and his near and dear ones’ lives, to give voice to the voiceless; fight for the rights of the downtrodden, the forgotten masses.
And for what gains? None materialistic, as we can see from how he lives his life.
He is a humble guy with a huge heart.
My sister and I ran into Freddie shortly after the passing of our brother Junior. Freddie was so shocked to hear the news and he expressed words of comfort to us and then said that we should not hesitate to call on him at anytime for help.
This is a man we had just known in a short while and apart from gaffing, did not have much interaction with him. He cares for people even without much contact with them.
I can tell you, he is a vast difference from many who, under the guise of God/Religion, use and abuse people…..those who remember you when in need and disappear when you are of no use any longer.
Freddie has been fighting incessantly and I pray that he continues to have the strength to continue this fight for those who need his help.
When you want to see how remarkable this soul is….he has not stopped his vigilance for atrocities, even while we have the Government that he fought for. Yes…he does not condone or support the evil of abuse.
Frederick Kissoon is a true Guyanese hero and I pray that he gets his due with a National Award very soon. Keep on fighting and writing, my brother. Thank you so very much. Nanda Sahadeo
