DEAR EDITOR,
The recent revelations by the infamous Sean Hinds have made lots of people start talking, writing and assuming. As for me, I am wondering if there are persons in prison who are framed by some corrupt members of the Guyana Police Force, given the alleged links they had with Phantom Squads and Death Squads in Guyana.
I’m also wondering if Sean Hinds sees the change of Government as an opportunity to gain financial rewards and just say those things as an attempt to blackmail members from the PPP who may have played pivotal roles in the past and want to avoid imprisonment. We could all assume, but we will have to wait to witness the outcome.
For years allegations were being made against members of Guyana Police Force, and these allegations impacted heavily on the institution. With Sean Hinds’ utterances about uplifting guns from Eve Leary, I wonder if any of those guns were placed on persons, and those persons were consequently charged for crimes that they had no knowledge of.
How could we be sure that the guns recovered from crime scenes – especially if the persons in possession got killed – were not replaced, thus the deceased got blamed for the crimes and left the real perpetrators to roam freely? Should we now believe ballistics test results are fair and not manipulated to protect others?
I am just wondering how many people are in prison innocently and the real criminals are walking freely. Imagine how many families have been shamed because of allegations by the Guyana Police Force, and there is no way to defend these allegations because of the nonsense that used to happen. Sahadeo Bates
