Kwebanna re-elects Pierre as Toshao
The Amerindian Village of Kwebanna, Region One (Barima Waini) has elected its new Toshao/Captain to manage the affairs of the community.
Toshao of Kwebanna Village: Paul Pierre
Former People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) Region One Chairman, Paul Pierre, was re-elected the new Toshao of the village earlier this week.
He served as the Village’s Toshao a couple years ago. However, he resigned after he was appointed Regional Chairman. He did not complete serving two terms as Toshao.
Pierre secured a total of 193 votes and will be serving his community for the next three years.
He secured a landslide victory beating Patrick Williams, Andrew Wilson and Shawn Jerome who were also contesting the election.
Wilson copped 47 votes, Jerome 14 and Williams, six.
Additionally, nine councillors were elected to work along with Pierre. These are Troy Peters, Brewster Williams, Theobald Bruce, Amanda James, Maurine Henry, Patrick Williams, David Thomas, Shawn Jerome and Caroline Obermuller.
