A 63-year-old vendor of West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme is now behind bars after making a court appearance on a wounding charge.

Yvonne Collins called ‘Steel Donkey’ is accused of inflicting a gaping hole to a woman’s face with a broken glass bottle.
Particulars of the charge stated that on July 18, at West Ruimveldt, Collins unlawfully and maliciously wounded Crystal Fletchman with intent to maim, disable, disfigure or to cause her actual bodily harm.
Collins pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to her by Magistrate Judy Latchman.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Vishnu Hunt, explained that on the day in question, the Virtual Complainant (Fletchman) was standing in Collins’ yard awaiting a taxi.
Collins approached Fletchman and inquired from her about the use of a toilet on the premises. Fletchman refused to answer and Collins became annoyed.
Hunt declared that the defendant broke a glass bottle and dealt Fletchman a stab to her face, resulting in a gaping wound.
The incident was reported to the police station, investigations were carried out, and Collins was arrested and charged.
The injured woman was present at the court hearing; her left cheek was bandaged. According to the prosecutor, Fletchman is still seeking medical attention.
Collins was remanded until August 6.
