Thief shot during robbery
An alleged thief is now nursing a gunshot wound which he sustained during an attempt to rob a resident of McDoom, East Bank, Demerara around 21:30 hrs yesterday.
Michael Gomes, 30, of Hogg Street, Albouystown, was shot in his left thigh and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he remained up to last night under police guard. Kaieteur News understands that Gomes is apparently a well known thief in Albouystown but relatives last night claimed that he is a fisherman.
Up to press time last night, Gomes was being questioned by police officers about the robbery.
