Samuel Wilson, the man who was allegedly shot by his 16-year-old stepson at his Kuru Kuru Soesdyke/Linden
Samuel Wilson
Highway home just over a week ago is now claiming that the boy did not shoot him, that it was an accident.
Wilson said that he had gone out and upon returning home, the firearm mistakenly went off, hitting him in the abdomen.
He maintained that the teen did not shoot him despite a close relative telling this publication that the enraged child had shot him after Wilson attempted to scold him about his unbecoming behaviour. The injured Wilson now says that his only focus is recovering from his injury. From all indications, he is coming along well.
He said that even if the reports were true he would not press charges against the child. Kaieteur News understands that the youth is yet to be apprehended.
Wilson has since been transferred from the Intensive Care Unit of Georgetown Public Hospital to the Male Surgical ward. Family members and friends are confident that Wilson will survive the trauma, even as they continue to pray for him.
Kaieteur News was told in earlier reports that the shooting occurred about 19:45hrs on Wednesday, last, after Samuel Wilson, 38, tried to scold his stepson about his unbecoming behaviour.
The youth was enraged by the scolding and opted to shoot Wilson with the man’s own firearm. It is unclear how the teen got hold of the firearm.
After shooting Wilson, the teen then made good his escape and is yet to be arrested. A 9mm. Taurus pistol with 11 rounds was recovered by the police.
