Nico Lane, an East Ruimveldt gold miner was yesterday remanded on two counts of armed robbery after he made his appearance before Magistrate Judy Latchman.
It was alleged that on June 12, last, the 20-year-old while armed with a pair of scissors robbed Ivelaw Hartman of one Nokia cellular phone worth $11,000 and $19,400 cash.
On the second offence, the defendant on May 6, at the said area, allegedly armed with a gun, robbed Shafeek Mohammad of one Digicel smart phone worth $39,300 and $26,000.
The defendant who was not represented pleaded not guilty to both charges.
The Prosecution however, made an objection to bail sighting the seriousness of the offence because of the alleged gun that was used in the matter, and he also said that several matters are currently being investigated that may implicate the defendant.
He is scheduled to make his next appearance on June 29 for statements.
