The man accused of murdering 71-year-old, Richard Ivan Etwaroo of Paradise, made a
Court appearance yesterday before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
Tamesh Chattergoon was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that between May 6 and 7 at Paradise, Essequibo Coast, he murdered Etwaroo.
Chattergoon was remanded to prison and the matter was transferred to the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court for May 19.
Etwaroo was found dead last Thursday on the Paradise seashore. He had left his home on May 6, last, unknown to his wife. When he failed to return home on the said day his family searched the community for him.
After failing to find him, the search continued into the next day when Etwaroo’s body was discovered with a slit to his throat.
A Post Mortem revealed that the man died as a result of an incised wound to his throat.
