There is an ideal party to govern Guyana
DEAR EDITOR,
Polling day is mere weeks away, May 11 to be precise, and citizens, whether they admit it or not, are feeling the associated vibes.
Some are already certain of the party that they will vote for while some are yet undecided.
There is however a growing belief that there is an ideal party to govern this dear land of ours.
The ideal party in question is the coalition of A Partnership for National Unity/Alliance for Change (APNU+AFC). I support this idea and hopefully others will soon be compelled to do so too.
Guyana needs a Coalition Government and not the People’s Progressive Party/Civic again. Some might very well ask why, but the answer is indeed simple.
I believe that if the APNU+AFC is elected there is likely to be more transparency and accountability, which will translate to better governance of the country. This is in light of the fact that either side of the coalesced union could ensure that the other does not become consumed with power. This could work well if checks and balances are put in place so that each side is able to guard against the other doing as it likes.
However, with the PPP/C in power, especially with a majority, who will stop them from doing as they like? The answer again is simple – No One.
