Goal-hungry Grenadian striker Kithson Bain has been called up to do duties with Alpha United Football Club in the Caribbean Football Union Club Championships. Bain, described as an asset by Coach Wayne Dover, arrived in Guyana Friday night and practiced with the team yesterday morning.

The 32-year-old Bain first played for Alpha United in 2010. His arrival is expected to boost Alpha’s forward line which has been weakened by the absence of Dwight Peters, who sustained a knee injury in the recently concluded Kashif and Shanghai competition.
With the sidelining of Peters, Bain is expected to share strike duties with equally goal-hungry Gregory ‘Jackie Chan’ Richardson. Group One action in the CFU championship kicks off on Wednesday at the National Stadium.
Alpha United play Suriname top club Inter Moengotapoe on the opening day. The Suriname team is scheduled to arrive in Guyana tomorrow afternoon. Central Football Club of Trinidad, the other team in Group One, is set to be here on Wednesday.
They play Inter Moengotapoe on Friday. Competition in the Group wraps up on Sunday when Alpha clash with Central FC.
Alpha United’s president Odinga Lumumba has indicated that preparations have been smooth.
He added that the host club is responsible for local transportation, accommodation, meals and making venues available for practice. The club would also have to provide for eight officials. Two referees, four assistant referees and two match commissioners are expected, the president disclosed.
The hosting of Group One matches has been budgeted at ten million dollars. Lumumba informed that CFU will pump in three million dollars to offset expenses.
The CFU Club Championship is an annual competition involving top clubs from affiliated member countries. Last year, Alpha United topped Group Three which was staged in Jamaica.
