Shabeer Baksh receives cheque from Arnand Kistoo, a friend of the sponsor.
to the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) by providing funds to purchase six boxes of red balls to assist secondary schools participating in the under-17 and under-15 competitions.
This gesture by the contractor was initiated by BCB marketing and finance committee member Imran Saccoor.
At a simple presentation, Saccoor, representing the sponsors, was high in praise for the work of the board despite their many challenges and said that they have recognized that cricket is a costly game and the board alone can’t do it.
A representative from the board thanked the contractor for his kindness and assured that his money will be used for its intended purpose and called on other businesses and private individuals to come on board and assist with the further development of the game. Calls were also made to schools and parents to play their part in the resuscitation of school cricket in Berbice, emphasizing that these competitions were missing for a while.
The A. Ally and Sons Secondary Schools U-17 Competition will be concluded soon. The Dalchand Rambharose U-15 will commence soon after.
