Dear Editor,
I read with interest the article which reported that CARICOM backs Guyana over Venezuela’s territorial claim. However the CARICOM statement is dangerous in what it says about how the PPP is mismanaging the “wrong and strong” Venezuelan claim to Guyana’s Essequibo.
Guyana should never entertain any judicial review/option in relation to the border with Venezuela. That issue as far as Guyana and the international community are concerned was settled by an arbitration process. All Guyana’s efforts should be focussed on getting Venezuela to accept that fact.
This commentary on foreign affairs also is a good time to ask if the Prime Ministerial candidate of the PPP is still also the top civil servant in Guyana’s Foreign Ministry. Fitzgerald Yaw
