DEAR EDITOR,
Guyanese are people that have endured a trip to hell and back with airline after airline that has come on the scene, many of which have duped travellers. A history of turmoil, rip-offs, delays, cancellations, airline bankruptcies have left Guyanese as some of the most disenfranchised travellers in the world.
This is the effect of a country that does not have a national airline, rather, a host of airlines that are born overnight, from the dreams of seemingly over-ambitious businessmen, and they come on the scene with much pomp and fanfare, luring the Guyanese travellers with cheap flights, only to have these poor people face hell.
I have written two letters over the past two weeks which have been published in these columns, expressing my frustration with Dynamic Airways, yet it is surprising to see how much this airline cares about their customers’ opinions and experiences— they have not said a word about my complaints and experience! That is some poor public relations!
This airline was humiliated in the press, so to speak, when it let down hundreds that were stranded in December at JFK Airport; they also faced immense embarrassment in August as they could not fly into New York, even though they started to sell tickets and collect people’s monies in Guyana.
This airline has bad management and bad arrangements. When will our travel woes end in Guyana? Do we need to go through all these deceptions by airline after airline that comes on the scene? Will there ever be a marketable, honest, efficient, reliable and caring airline for the travelling public in Guyana?
To date, I cannot hear anything about a one-way travel voucher Dynamic Airways said they would give me, since I had to shelve the one way to NY as they could not fly into JFK two weeks ago. I had to book a one-way with Caribbean Airlines. I hope I do not have to take legal action.
This government needs to do something about these airlines. You cannot allow airlines to treat your citizens this way! They treat you like nobodies— having you waiting for hours at airports on their flights without saying a word! I expect better from Gerry Gouveia and his people at Roraima Airways. How does it feel to have such negative publicity for an airline!
You can go on Dynamic Airways Facebook page and see the outpouring of frustrations and harsh criticisms of the services of this airline from frustrated and irate Guyanese passengers. They have horror stories to tell.
My word of advice to anyone out there is: pay extra and use another airline. I learned the hard way. I may never get back my one-way money from Dynamic Airways. Also I don’t expect a hassle-free travel come next Monday night on that flight to Guyana. Somehow, I know it will be delayed for hours. What a shame!
They care not about people’s opinions since they do not have anything to say about people’s complaints.
We need Jet Blue in Guyana. Jet Blue would have done everything possible to make disenfranchised passengers feel comfortable and secure about travelling again.
