Omesh XI emerged champions of a specially organized softball competition played on Sunday last at Everest Cricket Club.
Rain prevented the final round game between Wolf’s Warriors and the eventual winners.
Regal defeated Wolf’s Warriors by six wickets in their encounter. Wolf’s Warriors were led to a respectable 185 before they were bowled out in 15 overs, batting first. Skipper Amrit Rai scored 46 and Vishun Tammechandra 36.
The pair added 76 for the fourth wicket with sensible batting to stabilize their innings. Rai struck two fours and three sixes, while Tammechandra hit two fours and a similar number of sixes. Balram Roopnarine grabbed 4-25 and Ricky Sargeant 3-26. Regal replied with 186-4 in 14.4 overs. Richard Latiff stroked 118 and Safraz Esau 25. Latiff slammed eight fours and seven sixes.
Omesh XI thumped Farm by 10 runs. Omesh XI batted first and scored 140 while Farm replied with 130. Omesh XI then went on to beat Regal by 14 runs. Taking first strike Omesh XI managed 129 all out in 10 overs. Regal responded with 115-7 in 10 overs.
The victors XI received a trophy; the contest was organized by Samuel Kingston.
