GTTA 2015 Season starts today with Open Championships

Some key matchups and explosive table tennis is expected at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall today when the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) commences its 2015 Season with a Senior Open Championship.
The tournament will feature the nation’s top table tennis racquet wielders vying for supremacy and will pit new and emerging talents, the likes of Shemar Britton, Kyle Edghill, Elishaba Johnson, Jamaal Duff, Kevon Corbin, Joel Alleyne, Nigel Bryan, Sheldon Atherley, Brad & Brandon Belle (Bartica), Orin Hickerson, Jonathan Sankar, Warren Hacksaw, Miguel Wong, Joshua Lalbachan, Stephan Sankar, Bryton Murray, Gibran Sarfaraz (Berbice), and the older brigade Remy Taitt , Xenophiah Goliath, among others against each other.
This tournament follows the Clash of Champions in December, which saw Hickerson emerging as the winner. The GTTA announced that the National Championships is also slated for the first quarter of this year with the emergence of new brigade of players.
“The tourney provides the opportunity for players to vie for and establish their positions and rankings for Guyana’s premier domestic championships in 2015,” the association said, adding that it also provides a chance for Lewis, Kyle Edghill, Britton and Sankar among others to go back to the drawing board and plot new tactical strategies.
The players will compete for trophies and cash incentives and is sponsored through the efforts of former national table tennis players, Sankar and Hickerson.
