Anthony Pydana, called “Ricardo”, 24, of Angoy’s Avenue, was jailed for two years by Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs Marcus in the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s court on a charge of felonious wounding.
A labourer at a lumber yard, Pydana, was earlier charged with attempted murder. On Saturday October 27, 2012 he wounded Yuwyn Ramadho. He was previously placed on $300,000 bail.
The case for the prosecution presented by Sergeant Godfrey Playter, was that Ramadho and the accused knew each other, but are not friends. He stated that on the October day around 23:00 hrs during the ‘Town Day’ celebrations Ramadho was drinking with some friends at Matthew Allen Road, New Amsterdam.
He had just bought some Guinness for his friends, when the accused come up and asked him to buy a Guinness for him. Ramadho refused and Pydana became upset, took a Guinness bottle, broke it and stabbed Ramadho over his eye.
The man collapsed and had to be rushed to the New Amsterdam hospital where he remained warded for four days.
Pydana was pounced upon and given a severe beating before being handed over to the police.
