An overseas-based Guyanese survived execution on Friday night, after being shot in the head at Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice, by a gunman who fled in a car.
Patrick Mohan, 46, of Bellevue, West Coast Berbice, and of St Maarten, was leaving the Dabit Young, Chinese Restaurant at Public Road Bush at around 20.15 hrs when a man, reportedly armed with a handgun, shot him to his head before fleeing in a vehicle.
Reports are that Mohan and his two nephews had only arrived in the country on Wednesday.
From all indications the shooting was a hit as the gunman was trailing the men and had reportedly also entered the restaurant pretending to be making some orders.
However, as Mohan and his companions were leaving, the suspect whipped out a firearm and shot Mohan in the right side of his head.
Mohan collapsed and was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital before being transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital and finally to the Georgetown Hospital where he is said to be in stable condition.
Police recovered a bullet casing from the scene of the attack.
