Forty-year-old mechanic, Renroy Caesar was charged with simple larceny last Friday morning at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It is alleged that between July 13 and July 14, last at Barr Street, Kitty, Caesar stole one pack of compact discs and a computer box which belonged to Basmattie Persaud.
Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant told Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry that around 18:30 hours on July 13, the virtual complainant parked her minibus in front of her house and retired to bed. According to the Prosecution, when Persaud woke up the following morning she saw that one of the windows of the bus was broken. Upon further inspection, she discovered that the items were missing.
The matter was reported and Caesar was later arrested and charges were made. Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry asked how he pleaded and he responded “Not guilty”.
The mechanic, who resides at 3461 Costello Housing Scheme, Georgetown, is a father of one and had appeared in court twice before for similar offences. He was however granted his pre trial liberty in the sum of $100,000.
