The Demerara Bank Limited hosted its first blood drive on Friday, in an effort to gather as many units of blood as possible for the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS).

A total of 34 units of blood were donated by customers and staff of the bank, and public spirited citizens.
The drive was held at the Head Office of Demerara Bank Limited at 230 Camp Street and South Road, Georgetown.
According to the Branches Liaison Officer/Marketing Coordinator, Amrita Singh, the blood drive was part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility to ensure safe blood is available whenever the National Blood Bank requires it to save a life.
She noted that the response from staff and customers was an encouraging sight, which has motivated the bank to host future blood drives.
The Bank encourages all corporate entities and individuals to participate in the worthwhile effort.
