Delon Aaron (sitting at left front row) shares a moment with the coaches and students at the camp yesterday.
Yesterday, students attending the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket Camp at Enmore Community Centre were briefed on the tips for successful public speaking.
In delivering his address, Tutor Delon Aaron told the students that the first thing is to know the room. He pointed out that being familiar with the place in which you speak, arrive early, greet the audience as they arrive, know your materials, concentrate and turn the nervousness into positive energy are some of the keys of being successful in this field. He stated that public speaking may not be as difficult as it may appear.
“Relax, visualize yourself giving speeches, realize that people want you to succeed, do not apologise because you may be calling the audience’s attention to something they didn’t notice and gain experience can add to you being successful”, he said.
In an invited comment Aaron said he is impressed with the students’ ability and willingness to learn. The camp’s main aim is to impart the basic knowledge of cricket to the youths.
