Yesterday’s edition of the Kaieteur News carried an article headlined “ Integrity Commission’s call for the declaration of assets should be ignored – Former Auditor General”. This headline is given effective context once the article is read.
However, it should be made pellucid that the Former Auditor General is a strong advocate for the annual financial declaration by Ministers of the Government, Members of Parliament and senior public servants. However, given certain factors and the current circumstances surrounding the Commission, he maintains that the recent call by the Commission for the declaration of assets would make no sense.
