A labourer from Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara was yesterday taken before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court for stealing two sheep.
Richard De Cunha, 20, of Lot 59 Samaroo Dam, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan and pleaded not guilty to the simple larceny charge.
De Cunha is charged with stealing two ewes belonging to B.T. Hariprashad, valued at $80,000, on August 13, last at Samaroo Dam, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara.
The Prosecution did not reveal the details of the theft and Magistrate McLennan granted bail in the sum of $25,000. The case is set to be called in the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrates’ Court on October 10.
