The deadly roadways of Guyana have struck again with the death of a motorcyclist at West Coast Berbice (WCB). Dead is Suraj Chandradai, called ‘Gala’ 35, of Lot 815 School Street, Bath Settlement, WCB.

This was as a result of a collision between the motorcycle Chandradai was riding (CG 140) and a van (GGG 3480) around 15:10 hrs on Wednesday. The man was an employee at the Blairmont Sugar Estate.
Speaking to the media, the man’s sister, Chandra Singh, stated that her brother lived with their mother Chandradai at Bath Settlement. She said that her brother was unmarried and had no children. The woman said that he did not work on Wednesday and was on his way to play Dominoes a short distance away when the accident occurred.
The driver of the van, who hails from Belvedere, Corentyne, told investigators that he was heading east, when the motorcyclist suddenly appeared from a cross street and collided with his vehicle. According to information Chandradai was picked up and rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he died.
The driver is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
