A 30-year-old mason miraculously escaped with minor injuries yesterday after plummeting from a

20ft, two -storey building he was working on.
Horrace Thompson was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) around 15:00hrs with injuries to his head, back and shoulder.
The accident occurred at Friendship, East Bank Demerara.
According to information received, the father of two was replacing zinc sheets on the top of the building, when he slipped and fell to the ground.
In an interview with this newspaper, Thompson explained that it was raining heavily when the accident occurred.
The injured man said that he was knocked unconscious after falling from the building.
A workmate rushed him to the GPHC where he was admitted to the Accident and Emergency Unit for treatment.
Thompson, of Lot 34 Friendship Road, East Bank Demerara, suffered a gash to his head and multiple bruises on his back and shoulder.
Thompson remarked, “I regret I didn’t take caution working in the rain. I trusted my skills a little too much.”
