Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) will host a camp for male and female U-13 and U-15 cricketers starting today at the club’s ground in Queenstown.
The camp is expected to last for two weeks during which cricketers will be taught about the basics of the game including batting, bowling, fielding and wicketkeeping. They will also be given lectures on the laws of the game, public speaking and table etiquette. In an invited comment, Coach Garvin Nedd, who will conduct the sessions, informed that the camp has been ongoing for the past eight years and has produced a number of national cricketers such as Ronaldo Renee, Travis Persaud, Malcolm Hubbard, Richie Looknauth, Ashmead Nedd, Alphius Bookie and Sagar Hetheramani. He said that the main aim of the camp is to generate well rounded cricketers and to keep the youths meaningfully occupied.
Sessions for the U-12 players will be held from 09:00-12:00hrs and the U-15 from 13:00 -15:00hrs. Interested persons can contact Nedd on 617-9381.
