Quarrel over ‘drug’ payments leads to charges

Magistrates’ Court, on a charge of threatening his cousin, Lawrence Williams.
In the court of Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, Police Prosecutor, Bharat Mangru , said that on July 4, last, the cousins had an argument over some money, and Codogan used a series of ‘ f’s and s’s towards Williams.
Codogan then got hold of two cutlasses and threatened to chop Williams. The defendant was later charged for the offence. Cadogan pleaded guilty before Magistrate Priya-Sewnarine Beharry.
In his explanation, he said that his cousin sells ‘narcotics’ in their yard, at 63 Hunter Street, Albouystown. He added that his function in the business is to acquire customers for Williams, in order to receive ‘tips’.
On Friday last, the defendant explained that Williams told him that he would receive ‘nothing’ for his efforts. He said that an argument arose because of payment.
He said that his cousin allegedly ‘ran upstairs looking for a gun’, so he decided to arm himself with the cutlasses.
“He always get a pipe in he house,” said Codogan. When asked by the Chief Magistrate what he meant by ‘pipe’, the defendant said he meant a ‘gun’. “He get cache with a bunch of guns and ammo in East Coast,” he further stated.
The matter was transferred to Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond. Codogan was released on his own recognizance and the matter was adjourned until July 15, 2014.
